Mazaròl Lions : Chapter 2 "All Done!"

        "The alcohol still got you?" Jana says to Elio sarcastically with an raised eyebrow, probably because she doubts or not sure what Elio just said to her. True, what Elio just told to Jana is something that has never come from him since 2 months he’s working in this business. “No, Mrs. Jana. I meant what I just said to you.” Elio replies calmly as always and checks himself at the nearest mirror in Jana’s room “Do I still look drunk?” Obviously in everyone’s eyes, yes, he always looks like people who will pass out from too much drinking and not to mention his appearance… which we don’t need to talk about anymore. Jana responds by humming and nodding her head lightly then tries to look for her work which it’s already piled up like there are three mountains on her desk. But at the same time, Jana still doubts and feels weird about Elio who wanted to help with her work. Even though Jana already knew how perfect Elio’s work was and the business changes when he entered this business, she still felt uneasy about getting help from him. She tries to check her work list and looks for the easiest works to offer for Elio, which it’s just normal daily works, not related to the big project. “Here. All of the instructions are already in there.” Jana says and gives in a sassy way to him which Elio never cared about even though Jana did it intentionally. She gives him five folders of her works and expects the works will be done today. “Thank you, Mrs. Jana.” Elio replies and takes the folders from her hand. He doesn’t open the folders right away and leaves the tech lead room. When Elio arrives at his desk, he quickly scans the folder given to him. Just looking at the first piece of paper inside of it, a smirk appears on his face and he tilts his head up. One folder is already scanned from him and he checks the others. Scanning all of the paper inside every folder makes him humming and nodding his head repeatedly, completely understanding what he needs to do. Heh. Elio scoffs Is this really a Tech Lead work? It’s just like an assignment for junior highschool. He puts down the folders on his desk and stretches his body before getting all of the work done. Alright then, Done stretching his body, now all of his focus backs at the folders that already spread out in front of him Let’s get those bonuses. Meanwhile, Jana is working really hard in her room with those piles of work and it still keeps coming any moment. Looks like someone is going to burn out soon if this situation keeps like this. When she’s done with one of the folders' work, hoping that she could at least take a rest for 5 minutes, her phone rings. Because of that sound, she grounds loudly and frustratedly. It’s the fifth time for today that she got calls from the managers, supposedly the calls are from them. She takes a deep breath and calms herself down before picking up the phone. “Hello, Tech Lead Jana Rivera here.” She says right after she puts the phone next to her ear. “Hello, Mrs. Jana, this is Mr. Lucas. Could you please come to this afternoon meeting?” From here, Jana already slaps her face lightly without Lucas notices it “There are some details we need to discuss about.” Lucas stops talking and waits patiently for Jana’s reply. On the other hand, Jana scratches her right side of the head and looks at her schedule. At this moment, she probably realizes that she needs to work overtime for today because of all the work that keeps coming for her. “Mrs. Jana? Are you there?” Lucas suddenly speaks up and makes her back to her bitter reality. “Yes, Mr. Lucas. I’ll be there.” Jana replies with a slightly surprised voice. “Alright. Thank you very much, Mrs. Jana” Lucas says and hangs up the phone. Leaving Jana froze up on her seat, still holding her phone even though Lucas already hung up. Once again, she snaps out from her thought of having all this work and groans frustratedly once again, even louder than before. “Come on.. I’m still a Tech Lead and the work is this much?” Jana talks to herself desperately while looking at those mountains of work. “What time is it again?” She checks her right wrist where her watch is. Jana’s luck really sucks, it’s about 15 minutes before the meeting schedule. This situation leads her to slam her back on the chair and groan once again, hopefully last once because people outside her room might hear her. These mountains won’t change into a flat earth without any touch but what can she do? She needs to come for a sudden meeting with the others or.. Well, everyone already knows it without any explanation. With that, Jana decides to work overtime for today and takes 15 minutes breaks which means she will touch her work after the meeting is done. Stands up from her seat, walks circling the room for around 5 minutes while scrolling the internet on her phone and finally slams her body on the small coach in her room. Right when she slams her body, she lets out a sigh. Remember about Jana’s luck? Yep, someone suddenly knocks at her door which makes her groan frustratedly, again. But this time, she goes to the door with her foot stomping angrily because she knows that it’s probably not people from the managers. She opens the door and greets the person angrily         “Ugh! What is-” Jana stops talking when she finds out that it’s Elio with her folders of work in his hand. “Sorry, Mrs. Jana. I can’t open the door since I have these on my hand.” Elio says by lifting the folders a bit. Jana looks back to back at his face and the pile of work which only makes Elio look at her weirdly. “Are all of those already done?” She asks with eyes wide open. Elio simply answers with a nod. Looking at Elio’s answer, Jana feels her jaw drop on the floor knowing that the work she gave for him 35 minutes ago is already done. One of Jana's habits, she froze up when something surprised her. Because of that someone needs to snap her out to make her back to reality. “Mrs. Jana?” Elio calls her with a raised eyebrow. “Oh.” The first word comes out from Jana “Yes, yes, thank you Elio. Put it there.” As always, she replies coldly and points her finger to the table in front of the coach. With that, Elio steps in the room and proceeds to put all of the work on his hand. For Jana, she still scans the whole situation while looking at Elio’s back and the mountains of work on her desk. Elio turns his back and Jana quickly turns her attention away from him to her phone. “Is there anything else I could help?” Elio asks Jana which is something she didn’t expect before. That is why Jana almost turns her head immediately when she hears that but successfully holds her eyes on the phone. On the other hand, she badly wants someone to help with her work so she won’t work overtime. But from all of these people why must Elio?

She asks this question and thinks to herself. First of all, Jana crosses her arms and looks at Elio from head to toe, not necessary but Jana always puts on an arrogant and sassy display. “You’re only got this job for 2 months and you think you could handle Tech Lead’s work? Don’t get too cocky will you?” She says arrogantly and finishes her sentence with a scoff. “True but I just finished your work, right?” Elio replies with an raised eyebrow and pointing to the folders on the table which he just put there just now. Jana shows her irritated face because she feels underestimated from Elio’s words and how he replies, it’s just Elio’s calm reply though. “Say Elio,” Jana says and takes a few steps forward to Elio “Are you targeting something?” She says it with a threatening voice and looks straight into Elio’s eyes. Did she find out that I’m looking for those bonuses? This is the first thought that’s coming through Elio’s mind. In Jana’s thought, Elio is working hard right now because he wants to take her place. “Sorry Mrs. Jana, before I answer that, aren’t you the one who is always mad at me when I take a nap on my desk? I won’t sleep if there is work on my desk.” Elio tries to excuse himself. From his response, Jana takes a stepback and his answer is right on point. Deep inside Jana’s heart, she feels like Elio is aftering something which probably her position is one of the reasons. That is why Jana doubts him and thinks carefully before giving a reply to Elio who is waiting for her answer. Based on what it looks like, Elio already feels satisfied because he knows that it’s already a checkmate and lets the silence fill the room. Jana checks her phone once again and she needs to get to the meeting room right now. Without further thinking and panics because of the time, Jana finally makes her choice. “Okay then if you insist.” Jana says irritatedly, almost admitted that she already lost to Elio, and goes beside her desk “These all work for me. You can start whichever you want until I get back after the meeting.” prepares herself and what she needs to bring for the meeting. Elio follows right next to her and looks for all of her work on desk. “Hey,” Jana calls him, still with an angry tone “After this don’t even think you already surpass me or anything.” Once again she says that with a threatening voice while pointing her finger to Elio’s face Just like before, Elio doesn’t even flinch from her Tech Lead’s words and not feeling any threat from her. Looking at Elio’s reaction again only makes Jana get angrier at him then she just storms out of the room and slams the door behind her. Elio who is standing there and looking at Jana’s actions only makes him laugh and feels a sweet victory against her. “Heh. Tech Lead.” he scoffs and says it mockingly. Elio walks slowly to the chair and puts his body on the chair. While looking at those piles of work, he stretches himself and takes a deep breath with a wide smile on his face. “Alright, you know how to do it, Funkidz.” One of Elio’s habits is talking to himself with a grin on his face when he gets excited, challenged, and sometimes he just laughs it off when he feels underpressured. Somehow the meeting takes longer than Jana’s’ prediction which makes her lose hope that she’s going to have a peaceful weekend for now. She already feels exhausted and her head would explode if she gets some other problems or works. Now Jana is standing still in front of her door room because she just remembers how much work she left in this room. Not to forget that probably the work gets some more since she has that almost 3 hours meeting with the managers. Alright, most likely she will hand out the resignation letter tomorrow. For now there is only 1 hour and a few minutes left for the normal working schedule but she already feels like throwing up because of all this work. She sighs loudly and finally makes a move to get inside her room where she only finds something that is unpredictable and probably won’t believe what she’s seeing now. Those piles of work like mountains on her desk already moved to her table which means those works are already done. That makes Jana drop all of her belongings as well with her jaw on the floor. With the sound of her belongings dropping, that draws Elio’s attention to look at her because he probably didn’t notice that Jana opened the door just now. “Hi, Mrs. Jana. Sorry I didn’t realize you’re there.” Elio greets her for a second then turns his focus back to the work. “Those are the works that are already done. You may recheck it if I’m doing it right.” He says without looking at her. On the other hand, Jana still stands still, frozen up again for many times today, her eyes looking back to back at her desk and table. Still can’t believe and question how this can happen in just a short time. The work that she predicted going to be done in 2 days, without adding more work and having meetings, can be done by Elio for almost 3 hours. When she comes back to herself, she quickly sits on her coach and checks all of the work that has been done by Elio. Jana probably only needs a quick scan, not to be too detailed, because all of it is perfect, no miss at all. “Holy mamamia..” Jana first words when she is almost done checking half of the work which all of it is perfect, her eyes and mouth still wide open. Meanwhile on Jana’s desk, Elio can clearly hear Jana’s response in which a smirk appears on his face, another victory for him. “Are you..” Jana turns her head up to look at Elio who is still working on her desk “Did you really do all of this? Alone?” She asks and her voice is a bit trembling because of this unexpected phenomenon. Elio simply answers by nodding his head. “Did someone give you more work when I left?” Jana asks again and feels like she’s interrogating Elio right now. But Elio really doesn’t care about anything, he’s only looking for the bonuses he will get because he wants to buy another game console and the video games for it. “Mhm.” Again, Elio simply answers by nodding his head. Well this is one of Elio’s characters, he doesn’t like to talk much and minimally replies to the others. In addition, he doesn’t care if those people get bothered by his actions. On the other hand, Jana who is very sensitive about this kind of thing only makes anger inside her boiled up but yet this time something is different. Right now, she looks back again to her work on the table, the one that is already done, and thinks to herself. A small smirk appears on her face and she gets a sneaky idea for her revenge on Elio. Because she also still thinks that Elio's target is her place as Tech Lead, which she is completely wrong about, she gives bait to Elio for it. “Say Elio,” Jana speaks up again and puts down her work back on the table “Are you enjoying this work?” she asks while looking at Elio who is still focused on doing her work. One simple answer from Elio like nodding his head yet somehow irritates Jana. “Will you come to my room again tomorrow? To help me with this work.” Jana offers which she predicted that Elio will take it because he wants to replace her. This time, Elio is the one who turns his head to look at Jana and almost catches Jana’s smug face. “What did I get from it?” Elio asks and this is the moment he’s waiting for. He intentionally asked that because he wanted to make it clear that he will get more money bonuses. On the other hand, Jana still thought that Elio expected she’s going to offer her place, which is why she tries to avoid an answer of her position. “I’ll tell the manager that you helped me a lot with the work and you’ll get a bonus for doing that.” Jana explains what he’s going to receive which is a bingo for Elio. Just like what I was waiting for. Elio says to himself and a smile appears on his face. Both of them shake hands as a sign of their making a deal of working together for this big project which means both sides plan worked. For Jana, she totally just wants to use Elio perfect working performance for doing her work. For Elio, one and only target for him is to earn more money or get a lot of bonuses. With that, Elio keeps working on Jana’s works for a couple of weeks and those are perfectly done by Elio. Jana, who already knows that Elio will do every work she has, makes her popularity and working performance increase. This plan is supposed only between them but one person knows and notices about this, it’s none other than Lucas. Not because he’s the one who told Elio but he notices that Jana becomes more arrogant than ever. Because of that, Lucas wants to talk with Elio again on their lunch break. “Bro, aren’t you doing it too much?” Lucas asks him right to the point he’s worried about. But his question only makes Elio look at him confused and tilts his head to the side. “What do you mean?” Elio asks back and takes another bite from his sandwich. Lucas looks around once again, making sure no one hears their conversation. “I know it should be a secret between you and Mrs. Jana. But do you have any idea what happened to Mrs. Jana?” Lucas whispers while getting closer to Elio’s ear. Honestly, Elio doesn’t slightly care about what is going to happen with Mrs. Jana. Just like before, his target is only getting more money and bonuses, nothing else matters. But for now, he just rolls his eyes and follows where this conversation is going, which it’s already predicted by him. “What?” He simply replies with an annoyed voice. “The managers started to discuss if she would get promoted next week because of her working performance, which it’s actually your work, right?” Lucas answers still with his worried voice. Elio doesn’t say anything, instead he just raises an eyebrow, looking at Lucas like it’s not his problem or he would care about it. “But none of the managers talk about your working performance!” Lucas states about him now “They still doubt about giving you a promotion because of what I told you a long time ago. Appearance and how you treat others.” He tries to explain Even though Lucas already tried his best to tell Elio’s condition, nothing changes, he still doesn’t care. Elio just rolls his eyes, shakes his head lightly, and takes another bite from his food. This is one of the reasons why a lot of people get annoyed easily with Elio. “Come on, Elio..” Lucas sighs and says it desperately “Think about it. Mrs. Jana only used you for her work and got promoted. Don’t you think it’s unfair?” one last attempt Lucas to convince Elio to consider it. Unfortunately, Elio is such a headstrong and most careless person. That is why Elio looks back at Lucas and shakes his head lightly again. “At least I got more money and bonuses from her, right?” He replies simply yet that’s enough to make how Lucas feels so disappointed right now. “Relax, bro. I got this, okay? Don’t think too much about it if you don’t want to get a lot of white hair.” Elio says teasingly to Lucas who is now looking down at his feet. With that ended, nothing changed until the day after this. Without anyone knowing, something unexpected happened.
