“Sa..Elio..!” Someone is shouting really loud, probably because the distance is so close which only makes the one that has been called become annoyed by it. But what can we say? It’s working hours and he is sleeping on his working desk.. peacefully almost snoring. On the other hand, the person that has been called for almost 2 minutes still doesn’t want to respond and he keeps snuggling to his arm's pillow. Or probably, he doesn’t hear it loud enough. “Sam Elio!” That’s become even clearer in his ears which makes him flinch on his position but keep snuggling, looks like he is still trying to get back to sleep. He won’t wake up if this keeps going and it only makes the room in disaster. “Ugh! Unbelievable!” That person says loudly mixed with irritatedly, and stomping footsteps can be heard getting away from that sleeping guy. Ahh.. finally peace comes again.. Says the guy who is trying to get more sleep on his desk because he doesn’t know what is going to happen next. That stomping heels, famous sound in this room, footsteps come again and this time it is even louder and faster to get close to him. Without any second that no longer sounds of footsteps and water suddenly splashes into Elio’s body which makes him stand up immediately from his seat. “Sam Elio!” That person is shouting his name again even though he already gets up from his seat and wipes the water from his face. “Agh!! What is-” Elio says irritatedly and looks up only to Mrs. Jana, who is his Tech Lead in his division, and is one of the most annoying persons in Elio’s life. As expected, Jana’s face looks so angry at him and Elio can clearly feel that she’s throwing daggers through her eyes. But for Elio, his Tech Lead always has that face on him, honestly he never likes his her face, especially that’s too much mascara, the red lipstick looks like she applies one stick each day, and that huge mole on her forehead. Thinking about Elio’s grandma, Elio will put all the bets on how this person would look exactly the same if she removed those makeups. If Elio has a chance to slap that face, he won’t hesitate to do that. “How is your nap, Mr. Sam Elio?” Jana asks sarcastically while crossing her arms and that makes Elio's thoughts disappear. “Good afternoon, sir. The nap feels great. If I have more time for-” Elio doesn’t finish his sentence because Jana is slamming his desk very hard. “How dare you take a nap during your working time?! Can you tell me what time it is, now?!” Jana scolds Elio until all of his face is covered with red. “No reason? And if you ask me what time it is, aren’t you wearing a watch on your wrist right now? Why don’t you see it by yourself?” Elio says calmly, he even lets out a yawn like this is not an intense situation. Probably not for Elio since he’s the only one who always gets scolded everyday tho. From Elio answers to his Tech Lead’s question, that only makes her get mad and her face becomes redder, looks like it’s going to explode in no time. Jana turns her head to look at Elio’s desk to check his works. What makes Jana even mad after checking Elio’s very messy desk, which is one of the reasons for it, is that all of his work is already finished. Now, Jana only stays there, no words come out, don’t know how to scold him anymore but the anger is still there. “Why don’t you help the others instead of sleeping here?!” looks like Jana finally finds his words to say for Elio. “Already, Ma’am.” Elio replies immediately, looks like he already knows what Jana is going to say to him. This kind of response from Elio that feels humiliating at her, only makes Jana tighten her fists and intensifies her glaring at Elio On the other hand, Elio's face still looks kinda sleepy and he even scratches his right ear with his pinkie finger, totally doesn’t care about the situation he’s facing right now. “Liar! There is now way all the work is already done!” Jana says angrily and Elio only rolls his eyes. “Let me see yours!” Jana says to the person who is working next to Elio’s desk. Well.. Jana’s luck sucks. That person's work is almost done too, it looks like only three or four things to do before it’s totally complete which there’s nothing Elio could help with. At this moment, Jana can’t even believe her eyes and herself of what she just sees. Now she is completely frozen on her feet, her mouth wide open and eyes are roaming around the paper she’s holding on. “Do you have anything to say, Ma’am? If not, I would like to take another nap before the working time is over or the others are done with their work.” Elio says and finishes it with a yawn which makes Jana back to reality. “I’ll tell the Manager about it! Don’t even think you will get away from this easily!” Jana says angrily while pointing her finger to Elio then storms out of the room with heavy stomp. On the other hand, Elio just puts on that poker face and his eyebrows raise a bit when he doesn’t slightly care about her words or threats. The time Jana leaves the room, everyone gets back to their work, it seems like they want to get home earlier as well, and Elio sits back on his chair then stretches his back. He checks the time on his phone which is still 3 hours away from the normally working time to be done. Because of that, Elio groans in frustration since he needs to wait for 3 hours or the others are done with their job. But based on his work, Elio takes a glance at the person who is hard working beside him which makes him let out a loud sigh. Probably it’s going to finish in one hour if they keep working like a sloth. For real, how can they hire people like them? With that, Elio huffs and decides to take another peaceful nap on his desk and this time no one is going to bother him. **** “Elio..” Someone is calling his name again but this time that person is giving pats on his back gently. Based on this treat, it must be just one and only person in this office which is his Manager, Mr. Lucas. Lucas is Elio’s senior from the same university, really got along with Elio before, and also the person who knows how smart Elio’s brain works. Even though back then Elio was the one who helped Lucas with university work, now Lucas is the one who helps him to get this business’s job. The only person who knows about Elio's working performance in this business even though Elio is still just a contract worker. If he is the one who wakes him up, Elio already knows exactly why someone needs to wake him up or he will get locked in this room. Because of that, Elio slowly pulls his body to stretch himself and let out a loud yawn. From Elio’s action, the other person only lets out a sigh and there is the sound of a chair being pulled beside him. “Mrs. Jana told me about what you did this afternoon.” Mr. Lucas says then laughs because he remembers how upset Mrs. Jana told him about this before “Both of you can’t get along, huh? It’s been 2 months since you've been working here.” “What am I supposed to do? All of my work is already done and I already helped the others to finish it faster!” Elio says with a little bit of frustration and rolls his eyes “But I’m impressed by how she keeps scolding me every single day heh.” He scoffs. On the other hand, Lucas only lets out a sigh and shakes his head lightly. The room now only fills with the sound of Elio packing his belongings who is getting ready to go home. In that moment, a light bulb turns on in Lucas' mind. “How about if you try helping Mrs. Jana work as well? Since she’s your Tech Lead, she probably gets more work than other employees.” Lucas suggests. That suggestion successfully draws Elio’s attention to look at Lucas. “Will I get a bonus for doing that?” Elio asks with a raised eyebrow. “If you help the other employees work, you get a bonus right? Technically, that will go the same with helping the manager’s work.” Lucas explains and rubs his chin. “Hmm..” Elio replies with nodding his head and continues to finish packing up. “The bonus should be more than only helping the others.. The managers might probably hire you as an official worker here?” Lucas says what is going through his thoughts right now and looks at Elio. “Then I will get more money if I get that?” Elio replies and it sounds like he’s totally interested in doing that. Lucas answers with a nod. “Alright then. Starting tomorrow, I will get those shitty works done by me.” Elio says confidently and his face looks brighter than before. This also makes Lucas brighter too and he nods in approval. After packing his belongings, they both walk out from the office front door. “Drink?” Elio invites Lucas to go for a night drink. This is also one of Elio's habits, more like his routine, which is drinking until he’s satisfied. Also one of the reasons why the managers are doubting to let him work not as a contractor in the company. Because of his habits, Elio oftenly comes to work half drunk. He always shows up with a totally messed up appearance, never tucking in his shirt, undone neck tie, walking not steady, and the smell of alcohol is so strong coming from him. From here, Elio is already in everyone's mouth of how disrupting for the others. But for Lucas, Elio is just a little brother who has a bad attitude yet no one could compare his intelligence. That is why those things are not bothering him even though everyone is already complaining about those things. “Sorry, but I’ll pass.” Lucas rejects him and puts his right hand into his pant’s pocket. That makes Elio turn to face him and looks at him confusedly. Lucas pulls out his phone and shows the activity that he’s already set up for today. Dinner date, 7PM. “Can’t let a woman wait.” Lucas says and chuckles. That makes Elio pull his head up and looks at Lucas who is grinning. “Is it from that one? After all this time, you finally got together with her?” Elio asks and his face beaming with excitement at Lucas. “Mhm.” Lucas simply answers with a wide smile on his face. With that, Elio throws a hand on Lucas' shoulder and rubs his fist on Lucas’s head. “That’s my bro!” He says excitedly “How long have you guys been together?” Elio asks when Lucas manages to pull away from his arm. “Ahahah. Thanks bro. It’s already been three months since we've been together.” Lucas answers still with that wide smile, it seems like that smile won’t go away at this moment. “Best of luck for you.” Elio says and gives his fist to toss with Lucas. “Yeah, thanks man.” Lucas says and answers the toss. “Don’t get too drunk.” Lucas warns him before parting ways from Elio. Elio only scoffs from what Lucas warned him and continues his way to his favorite bar. In this bar, Elio is already well known from the workers who worked there since he comes oftenly, almost spending every night just to grab at least 4 to 5 bottles of beer. He already got close with people there because sometimes he’s the one who treats people to drinks. The owner of this bar is also one of Elio's friends that is why he just left him in the bar with the night security. That is why Elio oftenly wakes up there at like 3 or 4 in the morning and walks unsteadily back to his home, probably his vision is blurry and spins around, still holding a bottle of beer in his hand. Don’t worry, he always pays everything he buys in the bar. Thankfully, when Elio is still half conscious from being totally drunk, he still manages to get home safely and not to disrupt the neighbors. Elio lives in a small and cheap apartment not too far away from the office and the bar. There are only 12 to 15 minutes of walking to arrive at the office from home and 6 up to 7 to arrive at home from the bar. As mentioned before, because he is still blurry, he always gets troubled just wanting to unlock the door into his room. He needs at least 1 minute to just open his door and lock it back. Just a few steps from the door, it’s already his living room where there is only a coach and a small tv there. That’s why Elio never bothered to clean up first and just threw his bag to the floor and himself to the coach. Sometimes he sleeps right away or he would just take other sips from the beer that he brought from the bar. On weekdays, he always sets the alarm to get up at 8AM which is about 45 minutes before the working time. Elio prepares himself just to take a quick shower and breakfast then just walks normally to the office. At least he already wears a collared shirt and trousers for work and accessories like a necktie and belt. Put his bag on then Elio is ready for work, obviously with messy hair as well. From here, there’s no time for Elio to pay attention to his appearance going to the office, right? On weekends, he doesn’t set up any alarm to wake him up, that is why he would usually wake up at noon or at least above 11AM. Guess what he’s going to do first? Take a shower? Go for jogging or any exercise? Well.. none of it is correct.. The first thing he does is turn on his personal computer, a self-assembly computer with every high quality component, and plays his favorite video game until hunger hits him. Elio never bothers with how messy and dirty his apartment is, supposedly cleaning is never an option for him huh? Back to the present, last night Elio went to the bar on Thursday night which means today is Friday, still a weekday for him and needs to go for work. Remembering how drunk he’s last night, went back to apartment nearly 4 in the morning and woke up at 8. Can't imagine how painful it is just to move his body right now. Manages to turn off his alarm on the phone and he rubs his eyes lightly. “Ughh.. I drank too much last night..” he groans while trying to roll himself which only makes him fall from the small coach. “Aw!” He groans in pain and he lays on the floor for a couple minutes. After gathering all of his energy, just for waking up, he finally makes his way to the bathroom and gets ready for work. Done cleaning himself, he checks the clock and thankfully there is still time for breakfast. That is why he proceeds to open his kitchen, hoping there’s something he can eat for today’s morning. “Well.. sucks..” Elio says disappointedly because he only finds a carton of milk and cereal that won’t be enough for him. I’ll just buy anything on my way to work.. With that, he leaves his apartment and starts to walk his way to the office. **Lunch time**
“Elio!” Lucas suddenly shouts behind him and makes him jolts from his seat, almost throwing his sandwich to Lucas’s face. Lucas looks so excited and uses the same ear-to-ear smile on his face. “God.. why do you look so excited..” Elio says a bit frustrated and just remembers about something from yesterday “Is it about your date yesterday?” he asks with a flat face. “The date is great, we had a kiss but that’s not what I’ve wanted to tell you.” Lucas replies fastly while pulling a chair to sit next to Elio. “Remember about the work I told you about?” Elio answers by nodding his head and takes a bite from his sandwich. “Our business has a big project coming! Something like a cooperating project with another big business!” Lucas explains excitedly. From that, Elio starts to put down his sandwich and totally focuses on Lucas. “There will be a lot of work to do, for the normal employees and more for the manager. Get what I mean?” Lucas says with a raised eyebrow. Elio’s face finally beaming from Lucas’s big news for him. “There will be more money for me?” Elio says excitedly. Lucas answers with nodding his head as confirmation. “Alright! Let’s get all of it done!” Elio says excitedly and seems like he can’t hide that wide smile on him.
