On the weekend, spending time in the clear blue sky with a wide view of the golf field, such a perfect way to relax a tiring body for a whole week of working. There is a person who is laying down on a deck chair wearing sunglasses and he is only accompanied by the sound of the breeze running around the place. Unfortunately, that peaceful scenery needs to be disturbed for a bit because someone approaches him from behind and that person is none other than his right hand servant, Enlai. “Excuse me, Boss. Your guest is here.” He informs none other than to his boss, Dwei. Hearing that, Dwei takes off his glasses and looks at him with a bit of an annoyed face as Enlai just chuckles lightly, knowing exactly what’s on Dwei’s mind at the moment. Even though he knows that he has a meeting with a certain someone around this time, this scenery is just too good to be ruined with. Well… some of the big bosses need to face these kinds of timings anyway. “Alright…” Dwei replies while slowly gets up then buttons up his shirt, “Bring him inside.” Enlai nods his head and bows before leaving him to get his order. In a short minute, someone who is going to meet Dwei finally shows up. It’s Quan, the right hand that is most likely going to be Han’s substitute. “Good afternoon, Mr. Quan.” Dwei is the one who greets first as he stands up to shake hands with Quan. “Good afternoon, Sir.” Quan replies politely with a bow and accepts the hand. Getting such a reaction, Dwei can’t help but chuckle. “No need to be so formal. Please take a seat.” Dwei says and walks back to his previous seat. Meanwhile Quan stands there, confused about where he needs to sit, then Enlai quickly helps him by pointing toward the deck chair beside Dwei. Once both of them are seated, Enlai pours the wine into their glasses and puts it beside them. “So,” Once again Dwei starts off while turning on his cigarette “What is it that you need to talk about?” “It’s actually about our contract, Sir. After checking and doing some research based on the boss' applications, I found out that on this project, both of our companies have agreed to take this until it’s finished. However, why did–” Quan is not done yet but Dwei already cuts him. “Because I have to.” Dwei says firmly without hesitation and his eyes are focused on the golf field. From his single answer, it successfully makes the atmosphere around them feel intense and makes Quan hold his breath for a moment before managing to continue. “I beg your pardon, Sir?” are the words that come out from Quan’s mouth. Just a couple of seconds after saying that, Quan realizes that he shouldn't have asked that. A mistake that makes him look stupid. “Because I have to.” Dwei repeats and turns his head to face him with those sharp eyes. On the other side, Quan is not an easy opponent where he can back off easily after a simple gesture of menacing. “I’m sorry for being rude, Sir. But based on our agreement terms, we’re not supposed to–” “Let’s say that I don’t want to continue my distribution through the whole project, it’s just the same, right? Lucky you since I’m telling you that I’ll stop.” Dwei once again cuts in then takes a sip of wine. “Correct and thank you for letting us know about it, Sir. However, if you want to break the contract, you–” “Pay two hundred fifty thousand? I’ll send you the receipt later.” And again, it makes Quan surprised by the way Dwei keeps attacking him ignorantly even from the very first beginning. However, Quan won’t stop until then, he still wants to try to convince him to keep the contract. “Are you sure about that, Sir? Technically our project has been working for almost half a year without a problem. Once you break the contract, you won’t get anything from it, instead you’ll gain a lot of losses.” Quan says with an intimidating voice and this time it successfully draws Dwei’s attention to finally look at him. Well, his expression can’t be described but in one word, arrogant is the most suitable one for it. “Why would you think that I’ll be at a loss because of breaking a contract?” Dwei asks and turns his body to face Quan properly. “Because you–” Another unexpected attack from Dwei to cut Quan’s words. “Because I already bet so much on it in the beginning? Spending lots of money for more than five months but I won’t get a single money in return? Then I need to pay the fee for breaking it? Not to forget mentioning my company’s name, my name, my pride as the owner. Yes, I’ve considered all of those things. Mind adding something on it?” Dwei explains with his voice that it sounds like challenging Quan for a battle. The attacks just keep coming mercilessly which makes Quan struggle to keep up with it. No words come out from Quan for a moment as he just stays there silently while trying to calm himself down from anger. Who won’t get upset to get treated like that, right? Even for Quan, who always keeps professional during working time, it’s still hard to handle especially when it’s coming up like this being cornered along with tons of pressure without giving any chance or space to get out. “Heh, You’re not even close enough to be Han’s substitute, kid.” Dwei chuckles and shakes his head lightly then puts out his cigarette with that smirk on his face. Completely looks like he is underestimating Quan’s abilities which makes Quan’s emotion boiled even more. His face is getting red as he clenches his fists tightly. “Go home. Take my advice. Tell Han that you’re still not ready.” Dwei continues and stands up from his seat, proceeding to leave Quan who is staying silent from the last words from Dwei. Seeing that, Enlai grabs Quan’s shoulder, signaling him to leave the area right away. However, Quan shrugs off his arm harshly then stands up. “Sir!” Quan shouts out to call him which makes Dwei lazily turn around along with a frustrated sigh. He doesn’t say anything but his face tells him to make it quick. “Can you please consider it once again? What could have gone wrong to keep our contract?” He continues with his voice sounding more pleading. Meanwhile Dwei lets out another heavy sigh and puts his hands inside his pocket while stepping closer to him. “Did you just ask me ‘what could have gone wrong’? Really?” Another intense atmosphere has been made but this time is a lot more intimidating. Probably because it’s coming from the way Dwei looks more irritated as if Quan underestimate his thoughts. “You said you have done some research, right? Read lots of the documents. How come you slipped out one of the most important things between our partnerships?” Getting that intimidation, Quan’s eyebrow twitches. It seems like Han must be hiding something that made Dwei mad at him. But what could it be? Until it reaches the line where he wants to break the contract with the company. “Heh,” Another chuckle to break the silence and tension between them. “Or maybe my company is just not important enough that’s why you skipped it.” Once again, he turns around his body and proceeds to walk away from Quan. Getting one last sarcasm from Dwei, finally pushes Quan until his limit of holding his emotions. “No! It's not like that! I’m just–” Now his voice sounds like he is shouting his emotion out as he takes steps forward, trying to catch Dwei. However, his body quickly gets blocked by Enlai who is now standing in front of him. Enlai’s eyes are just as sharp as a tiger who is ready to eat its prey. “Come back once you read all of the documents regarding all of Han’s partnerships, kid. Or…” Dwei turns his head one last time with that mocking face. “At least know about what the ‘problem’ is.” He emphasizes that one word then proceeds to get inside his room while leaving Quan speechless there, face to face with Enlai. Once the sound of the door closed can be heard, Enlai puts a smile on his face. A kind and genuine looking one. “Allow me to assist you on the way out, Mr. Bèi.” He offers with a bow then walks past him to get the exit door for. From this small meeting that only lasts for less than half an hour, it gives Quan two things. First, it might be true that he still lacks experience and knowledge of how to lead such a big company. Second, he needs to figure out what the problems that Dwei just referred to as fast as possible in order to keep the company alive and prove to Han that he is worth it. Those are the things that Quan wants to focus on right now. Nothing more and nothing else. Thanks to Niu for rarely mentioning her younger brother and at the same time Quan never got a chance to meet him in person before, it makes Enlai’s presence still invincible at the moment.
**Night Comes**
“Hey, hey, hey! There he is!” One of the men from a crowd in the bar shouts out while pointing his finger toward a person none other than Xiao Bèi. Xiao, who gets such a greeting from his friends, shows his cocky smile and approaches them with his hands inside his short pants’ pockets.
“Hey! There you are! We thought you won’t show up tonight, coward.” The other man beside him says and clutches his hand around Xiao’s shoulders. Xiao knows his friends are just messing around so he chuckles at how they mock him. “Heh, I told you tonight is on me, right? A Bèi always holds their words~” He replies with sarcasm that all of his friends understand it right away which makes them laugh their belly off. In the bar, they keep ordering some beers and enjoying the whole party. Drinking, hanging out, dancing, and sometimes making out with some random woman. Those are common things people would do in a bar, right? However, Xiao’s friends are doing something more than that. The woman who is playing around with Xiao bids goodbye, leaving him alone in one of the stools at the edge of the bartender. At first Xiao wants to take some time to let the alcohol drop down before hopping on another round but someone suddenly approaches him. “Having fun?” He greets Xiao who is not fully awake with his eyes half open. “Hah? Who are you? What do you want?” Xiao replies and takes another shot from his whiskey glass then grimaces from how the alcohol kicks in. It makes that man chuckle and moves his body closer to Xiao. Not that close though, still has that safe distance between them to offer and show the thing inside his pocket. White thing. “Wanna make it more interesting?” He asks with an raised eyebrow, signaling to take his offering. Xiao eyes glance over at his hand that is carrying a transparent plastic wrap that makes it totally visible what’s inside of it. After a quick glance, a grin starts to show up on Xiao’s face as he looks back into that man’s eyes full with excitement, knowing what’s the effect from it. But before taking that, Xiao looks around first and finally brings his body closer to that man. “How much?” Xiao asks, which makes the dark salesman grins and scoffs. “Two thousand. Can be lower.” Getting that answer, Xiao immediately draws himself back and looks at him weirdly. After that he clicks his tongue as his expression changes as if he loses interest in taking the offer. “Cih, it’s just a cheap one, huh? It won’t affect me.” Xiao says while pouring some of his alcohol into his glass. “Fuck off, kid. Your things won’t be useful here.” He continues after taking his shot. Meanwhile the man that he just warned before, still sits there, not moving an inch, as he just stares at Xiao with that grin still there. Obviously, Xiao notices that stare of him which is kinda weird. “What? You gay or something? I’m not into a man by the way.” With that being said and can’t bear the feeling of being stared like that, Xiao takes his bottle in his hand and stands up from the bar stool. However, that man suddenly grabs his shoulder and gives him another one. This one is completely different, starting from the texture where it’s not powder but looks like a small black ball with tiny thorns on it. “I told you, right? Wanna make it more interesting?” That man repeats his previous offer and puts that transparent pocket on Xiao’s hand, letting him to hold and look at it more closely. “What is this for?” Xiao asks while taking out two of them. “Aggressive, merciless, like a mindless animal in heat.” He whispers as he puts his arm around Xiao’s shoulder then holds his face to look at a certain woman. A group of teenagers that look pure and totally innocent that are just getting into a bar. The usual of a first timer where a teenager is always curious about going to the bar. Of course as someone who regularly comes to this kind of place will know it right away. When his eyes land there, Xiao’s grin grows even wider as his eyes start flowing with lust. “What do you think about when a predator finally sees its prey? A sweet tasty food that you can eat either in one big bite or slowly as you treasure every single of its savory.” Another push that makes Xiao can’t say no more to the salesman whose mind is most likely as wild as him. “How much?” Xiao whispers without looking at the salesman as his eyes just lock toward that group of young innocent prey that soon is going to be his last meal for the night. “Hmm… one is actually enough. Two if you want something more. Three… I won’t recommend that because I’m afraid your body can’t handle it.” A quick instruction but it makes Xiao slap his body like that’s not what he is asking for. “The price, you horny idiot!” Xiao says angrily as if his patience is already on the edge which makes the salesman chuckles. “Chill, dude. Hmm… let’s see… I think you can pay it later.” He answers which makes Xiao look at him in an instant with a raised eyebrow, questioning his suggestion just now. “Let’s see the effect of it first then you can set the price for it. Sounds like a big deal, doesn't it?” With that being said, one last slap on Xiao’s back which pushes Xiao to go forward. At first Xiao doesn’t say anything as he just looks back toward that salesman weirdly, he only waves his hand and mimics his lips to say ‘have fun’ before disappearing from his sight. It leaves Xiao confused but excited at the same time when he looks down toward the pill on his hands. “Heh,” He chuckles evilly and looks back toward the group of his prey full of lust. “Time for a test.” Taking the pill that is already on his hand as he walks closer to approach the group of his prey, one of them is going to be chosen tonight.
According to the phone call earlier this morning, Wuying also has a plan that she needs to meet with a certain someone tonight. To be more precise, a romantic date in a fine dining restaurant in one of the luxurious hotels in town. Wuying wears one of her favorite dresses which is a glamor maroon color that gives her some kind of graceful aura, making her the center of people's attention. Before her car’s door is opened by the porter of the hotel, she quickly takes out her phone to open a message from an unnamed contact. “Good evening, miss. What can I help you with?” The porter says when opening the door for her. Wuying doesn’t say anything as she just shows her phone screen and the porter understands it right away. “Alright. Please allow me to assist you to get there.” He says and leads the way as Wuying follows him from behind to get into the elevator. Arriving on the chosen floor, the porter goes to the receptionist for the fine dining restaurant to check Wuying's reservation. Just a quick check, the receptionist confirms it then takes the lead to take Wuying to her table. Her reservation seat is in a VIP room where it has the best night view of the town. “Excuse me, Mr. Dishi. Your date is here.” The receptionist informs us before opening the door. When the door opens, it reveals the person who is going to meet her is already there as he stands close to the huge window with a glass of wine in his hand. “Thank you.” He simply says without looking back, signaling the receptionist to leave them alone as Wuying steps inside the room. Once the door behind her gets shutted, it blocks almost all of the sound from outside which creates a silent yet intense atmosphere inside. What sends shivering down to Wuying’s bone is when that man with a surname Dishi finally turns around to look at her directly with that smug face which already annoys her. “Heh, you know I’ve been waiting for this for ages, my darling.” He says arrogantly. “Don’t call me that.” Wuying replies in an intimidating voice where it completely sounds like she's pissed off. Getting such an aggressive reply, it doesn’t erase slightly a bit of his smug face as he just shakes his head lightly and slowly approaches her. “Then? What should I call you?” The distance is getting shorter but Wuying is brave enough to not take a step back. She just stands there and gives him a death stare. “Honey? Sweetheart? Cutie? Or…” He reaches his hand to touch Wuying’s chin “My fiance?” When he says the last nickname, Wuying’s eyebrows twitch as a form of irritation and feels disgusted at the same. Therefore, she quickly slaps his hand away from her. “I told you. Don’t you fucking dare lay a hand on me.” She once again threatens him with eyes that show no mercy at all. But again, the same thing goes to Dishi as he just scoffs and turns around then walks closer to the huge window. “Well… say whatever you like, princess.” He says and this time sounds completely more like he’s mocking her like he already reaches the victory. “Sooner or later. You’re going to be mine anyway.” He continues as he turns around still with that smug face while Wuying only stands there. Glaring at him furiously but at the same time, she also knows about her position where she doesn’t have much option for now. Unless, she can find a way out or change Quan’s mind about finding a person then getting married.
